Johnson was indeed baptised by a Roman Catholic priest but the children weren’t brought up in the faith. Johnson was confirmed at Eton by the Bishop of Lincoln (the Visitor), so he is technically CofE, but given that he isn’t a church goer, does it matter?

Iain Duncan Smith, former leader of the opposition, is a Roman Catholic, so in theory we could have had a (very right-wing) Roman Catholic PM. He lost the election and was swiftly replaced. The very popular LibDem leader at the time, Charles Kennedy, was a Roman Catholic, too.

Didn't Blair convert?

Yes, Blair did convert but only after he had resigned as Prime Minister - although he had been receiving the Sacrament at Roman Catholic Masses until Cardinal Hume wrote to him telling him to stop doing so while he continued to be an Anglican.

Blair replies to Hume’s letter telling him he thougt Jesus would be fine with him receiving

I remember it well: a fine sentiment, but as an Anglican I respect the rules and I won’t receive.
