Only learnt about proning (lying flat on your front) reading about COVID19: it apparently helps breathing when it’s laboured. But also found it’s majorly helped both my stomach and back pain when I’m really struggling to sleep, for any other sufferers.

No idea. Pressure on different bits I suppose! (that’s medical terminology, obvs)

when sleeping 'prone', no pillow around your head/kneck area and placing one at your pelvic region puts your spine in a neutral position (same as pillow beneath knees for sleeping flat on your back).

We put 3 pillows across their chest, abdo, thighs to roll and relieve pressure when prone. When I had back/hip pain before hip replacement I found helpful to lay on 2 pillows lengthways. Stops the overly flat neck/shoulder/pelvis position when prone.
