Nextdoor managed to source bottles, a Moses basket, car seat, changing mat, loads of baby clothes and food for a young woman new to the area, and a few weeks away from birth and in the 12 weeks high risk isolation category.

Similarly, another family moved into a house their landlord said was furnished, but wasn’t, and locals managed to source beds and furniture for the kids.

Everyone seems to be working hard to be extraordinarily helpful on there, and no one is complaining about people being outside, probably because the Great Homeless Thread of 2019 taught people not to be selfish dickheads.

The former 40% curtain-twitching, busybody dictators on my Nextdoor have been completely squeezed out now. Not a peep. Just beautiful altruism now.

Yep, good moderation, but also other people constructively criticising curtain-twitching demonishments and praising altruism has helped shape the character of my local group.
