Did TV this morning and presenter insisted “we are being led by science though” and wearily replied “A lot of it’s behavioural science, and the chief scientific adviser said we’d need a 60% infection rate to achieve heard immunity which means a possible million avoidable deaths.”

Containment gives the best chance of survival, many, many scientists and epidemiologists are publicly warning the govt’s approach is dangerous and too slow. You can’t keep saying “but science” and buying the No 10 line wholesale.

Other countries diverge massively in their response. We don’t and it’s worth asking why, especiallywhen scientists are raising the alarm about a virus we know little about. Better safe than sorry.
