In many ways, the govt’s response differing drastically from other countries has led to Cameron’s ‘Big Society’: people choosing their own precautions, mutual aid groups, albeit with growing anger at govt inaction, and the sense the govt don’t trust the public to follow advice.

I’ve still not seen any citations for “populace fatigue” meaning precautions shouldn’t be taken quickly: it merely feels as though the government trust people less than other countries’ leaders. And the result: panic buying.

Stopping panic buying should be precisely what the Nudge Unit should be for, rather than sculpting the medical response to stopping a pandemic spreading.
