Is already too much… having said each aloud… I think I’ve settled on ‘An-tee-FAH’ … on basis that ‘fascist’ is where the emphasis should be placed… but I’m still not sure that’s the correct answer and fully prepared to abandon that conclusion.

It’s what I’ve always said, for the same reasons you gave, so decided we’re right. Still baulk every time I hear “an-TEE-fa” as if it’s a standalone word or Caribbean island.
