So very, very tired of the UK media and its constant transphobia and left-punching

In retrospect, not sure what I was thinking in trying to change it through a handful of freelance contributions, those gatekeepers are there for a reason

You had a big impact on many people’s lives and thinking, leaving aside the hardline transphobes who tried to claim they weren’t transphobic because they knew you. But it’s utterly disgusting how obsessive the media is, so much love and solidarity to you.

Absolutely. Juliet's diary posts in The Guardian were the first time I'd ever done any real thinking around trans issues and I still point people to them: they're great writing as well as useful. It's a purely institutional failing that The Guardian has since regressed.

Yes,
@NotRightRuth helped me understand a lot at uni (and we had Julie Bindel trans-bashing even in NUS in the late noughties) but Juliet’s Guardian series and book taught me a huge amount that I’m intensely grateful for.1 reply 0 retweets 6 likes -
Ah man, I remember
@NotRightRuth writing quite an optimistic post about the Guardian just after I started my series, and I don't think either of us thought the backlash would be this sustained, or so well coordinated2 replies 0 retweets 7 likes -
Ruth was the first trans person I’d met, and was an absolute legend (we were both involved in student politics). I remember when we passed a motion to make some toilets unisex, and Tory members said “What if people have sex in them?” And we pointed out they already did.

I was thinking of you a few days ago Dawn - I was back on Warwick campus, and it's election season. Hilarious memories of wandering around the SU as you and Ty judged the publicity of various sabb candidates

Now struggling not to giggle live on radio remembering some of the horrendous candidates (and how I won every position I stood for cos I rule)
