Personally when I’m online my eyes are always well-lubed with tears

Same, just constantly crying over bad takes

I wear contact lenses and my eyes are far drier and less comfortable when I’m wearing glasses!?! I thought lenses were supposed to make them drier

-
I find that too! Haven’t worn contacts for a month because I scratched my cornea

You blink less when you’re reading I’d bet

Pure conjecture but perhaps the light stimulates whatever glands produce the moisture or possibly encourages blinking that helps them. Perhaps try reading against a bright backlight

When reading a book, eyes have to move slightly, because eyes can't register a stationary object, so they have to move. This dries them (If you stare at something long enough, it becomes invisible) The pixels on a screen are always flickering, so your eyes don't need to move.
