I literally just ignore that stuff now. As if they are a tiny zephyr that crossed the room, unnoticed. A ghost fart.

The issue is when your vitreous starts to shrink and detach with age. Because your eyeballs are irregular shaped, there's a much higher chance the shrinking process will cause a tear. Mine are completely detached now though, so the increased risk has gone.

Short-sighted here (a modest −6 or so!) with astigmatism etc. Tried varifocals for a bit but hated the narrow field of vision, so now use lenses with just a slight variation from top to bottom Posterior vitreous detachment in my left eye Right eye has had two retinal tears
