I'd recommend the latter as you can buy cheap funky reading specs. I have my glasses to a reading prescription (ie distance minus the long sight) so I can wear them to read in bed.

Yes I think I'll go that route. It's nice to have some varifocals though.

If you get contacts from specsavers on contract you get discount on your glasses.

OOOHHH I missed the contacts bit. I get my lenses from http://contactlenses.co.uk because they are sooooo cheap (let me know if you want a referral code to try them)

The advantage of specsavers is all the aftercare is included. I've managed to scratch my cornea twice so it's an advantage to just be able to go into store and get examined. (though you should also go to the eye hospital cos i had a lump of grit stuck under my eyelid)

Argh! I live very near an eye casualty and have been there twice with diplopia and epilepsy-worsened amblyopia. Love them.

And I know I should get my eyes checked for contacts but... don’t, to save money.

well it's £25 for 30 daily disposables from Specsavers and all the checks are included. So I think it's good value.

Ooh that is good value. I’ll ask about them next time I get my eyes tested.
