Yeah, that seems a bit needlessly labelly. I guess disabled people are quite often ableist eejits too, disappointingly.

Oh I like them. Varifocals are for old people who are both long sighted (due to age) and short sighted (due to being born with funny shaped eyeballs). So the top bit is distance, the middle is neutral and the bottom is reading, I think.

Oh, fascinating. I have rugby ball shaped eyes (yay astigmatism) but am just straight short sighted.

Those are cool. Varifocals are a bit disorientating. For distance vision they're pretty good. For close range, eg glancing down at your phone, there are distortion issues at the periphery & a lot of people end up with distance contacts & reading specs.

I'd recommend the latter as you can buy cheap funky reading specs. I have my glasses to a reading prescription (ie distance minus the long sight) so I can wear them to read in bed.
