Just seen someone use the term “ableds” for people without disabilities and it’s made me deeply uncomfortable.

Were they cooing and interacting with a service dog that was working? Because that would explain why they were called "ableds." Disabled people would likely know better. I'd need to see the tweet otherwise; it sounds like there's context missing.

Nope, just a normal puppy. If it was a service dog of course it’d be idiotic: my friend works with guide dogs and lots have coats saying “Please don’t pet me, I’m working.”

Yeah, that seems a bit needlessly labelly. I guess disabled people are quite often ableist eejits too, disappointingly.

I’ve had some people be very shitty to me “What would YOU know about disability?” and you wonder whether they’d only be satisfied if I had my Freedom Pass as my header and medical history as my pinned tweet. No desire to add “disabled” to my bio, because why should I have to?
