The Agnus Dei invocation certainly gets a different feel with that left image

I like the restored version. Not only because you can see what the painter intended. But because it fits Scripture: Jesus, the Lamb of God. So if the human image bothers you, focus on the divine.

The one on the right is the original van Eyck painting. It was revealed when the sixteenth century overpainting on the left was cleaned away.

Also the original looks nothing like a lamb. Where those eyes and ears came from I have no idea, but he certainly didn't get them from actual sheep.
