Anyone who infers that a politician - Jewish, Muslim, Catholic - of having dual loyalties on account of their religious beliefs should obviously face disciplinary action from Labour, and that should apply to Paul Mason, whether he is a ‘name’ or not.

I think people should be judged on why they say - and to whom. It’s not a disciplinary issue, it’s a matter of principle and policy.

He said to because of bigotry, and to everyone he follows, so yes it should be a disciplinary matter.

Asked if the overall time-limit for abortion should be reduced, Long-Bailey refused to give a straight answer, instead promising that she would "play her part" in "ensuring that [the Catholic Church's] views are heard." http://theredroar.com/2020/01/exclus …

Direct quote from RLB in that precise, deliberately misrepresentative, article from a dodgy Blairite site “We have not stated that time limits will be reviewed, and definitely not that they should be increased. “

So, what does she believe - or does it depend who she’s speaking to?

She states she’s pro-choice and votes for it. She mentions her personal opinion and faith, but is monstered for it. Appalling stuff.

Monstered is a strong word. As far as I know there have been no votes on abortion since RBL became an MP. She voted against assisted dying. If she said what she did to an audience of Catholic priests it does raise issues about her views on abortion. That’s fair comment.

She reiterated Labour policy and stated her unease about differing time limits for disabled and non-disabled children, concurring with the secular Disability Rights Commission. I’m disabled and against euthanasia as are many disabled people. It’s not controversial.

That’s not euthanasia - a very specific and loaded term associated with eugenics- it’s if there is a substantial risk that if the child were born, it would "suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped" & is an issue of women’s choice

Yeah, when I said euthanasia, I meant euthanasia, hence saying euthanasia.

Euthanasia actually means the killing of a (already born) person as opposed to a foetus.

Which I don’t support, obviously.
