This chat about towns is nonsense. Far more important to talk about regional economies (of which towns are a part) and how they can be revitalised with devolved funding and powers, and a reversal of austerity for councils.

Problem with regions is they are great for the regional centre but mean less than Westminster to the margins. To a Cumbrian, Manchester is about as remote as Nottingham.
