Has anyone read anything good against online repeat prescription ordering services? And also, what’s the most ethical way to order scripts full stop - read that Boots longread, don’t pay for any of my eight medications if it’s relevant.

Interested in the economics/economic ethics of medicine really - who gets what money, how to support small businesses, how it all works etc.

Been some very helpful replies, but to reiterate - I’m interested in new fangled apps and online companies that use EPS/Patient Access, not people explaining how to order a repeat from my GP, I know that, as someone who takes ~30 tablets a day for multiple conditions.

I quite like @echo_pharmacy and my mother has actually kept using them (she’s not a tech person), though they can’t do controlled drugs so I still have to do that via a bricks and mortar place.

Ah thank you - was Echo’s website that prompted me, and I saw nothing about controlled drugs (I’m on 3) so would have had to have given them my details before finding out I’m ineligible.

I've stopped using Boots since Wall Green took em over. I try and use the local pharmacist. I find it a better prescription dispenser.

Yeah, I didn’t like them much before, but the model is awful now. They’d also WITHOUT FAIL, take and spoil my prescription and only *then* tell me they didn’t have something in stock, so I couldn’t try elsewhere. Which left me waiting 3 days for antibiotics once.

I was with Boots but they couldn't get a vital medication for weeks. Switched to an independent local chemist who have delivered what I needed, with no problem.

I had same with an antibiotic at Boots before, never use them for scripts any more - only my lovely local family run one,

My surgery has electronic ordering to the pharmacy of your choice - I've set it to the local independent that's most likely to have parking available. My choice was right I think, because I had a sit down with a pharmacist in autumn after a prescription change 1/2

And had to prompt her to record it as a chargeable review - whereas if you just talk to a white coat while browsing in Boots they'll try to have you sign a thing to say you consulted. Grr. 2/2
