Eat an apple for every bottle, and you'll be grand.

I was literally advised to drink red wine by a consultant gynaecologist! Just looked it up, confusing as it both contains iron and can inhibit the take up of iron due to tannins.

As does tea... My OH is prone to high iron levels. He started drinking tea to help reduce absorbing iron.

One of the best resources that I have found is a website called nutritionfacts. Alcohol is generally bad, but red wine is the lesser of evils as it has a high antioxidant content.
-
Apparently it stops absorption from food though - like the evil cousin of orange juice

I guess that leaves us with a choice: reduce red wine intake or increase iron rich food intake. I know which I'm choosing.

Just don’t drink red wine at the same time as the latter!
