Anaemics: what OTC things help (A&E blood tests showed I was anaemic) - want to do anything I can before NYE doc’s appointment. But don’t know if most supplements are snake oil, I should just eat red meat.

It's my main reason for not going completely vegetarian*, and for drinking weak tea with oat milk at breakfast. *clearly some manage their anemia while _vegan_ so it must be possible.

Coffee inhibits absorption of iron. Please avoid.

I quit being a veggie and just ate what my body told me and it kind of resolved. Still low but that’s RA apparently. Good luck. It’s a horrible feeling.

You need vitamin C to absorb iron. Caffeine will reduce iron absorbtion so I would reduce that xx

Being vegetarian won't make you anaemic. I have friends who eat a LOT of meat and they've had anaemia. Best practice is avoid caffeine and dairy - both vastly inhibit iron uptake. Take an iron supplement (tablets or liquid) and ramp up your Vit C intake with it. Good Luck!
