The mere existence of the raft of NHS child truthers shows how little empathy some people have. The parents sharing the photos of their sick children receiving substandard care know the NHS is in crisis, and don’t want other people’s children to go through the same ordeal.

Most people won’t use emergency services this winter - I have, and they’re majorly overstretched. I’d like them to get more funding so no one’s health is at risk, and being silent about the NHS crisis and pretending there’s no problem won’t achieve anything.

Attacking parents who’ve had sick children left with no beds, or the families of pensioners left for hours waiting in the cold outdoors for an ambulance, rather than the government ministers lying about nurse numbers and funding is twisted, conspiratorial nonsense.

Here’s some hard data on bed reductions from 2017: down by 20% in England and Scotland, 25% in Wales, and 28% in Northern Ireland https://www.bma.org.uk/-/media/files/pdfs/collective%20voice/policy%20research/nhs%20structure%20and%20delivery/nhs%20bed%20occupancy/nhs-bed-occupancy-report-feb2017.pdf …pic.twitter.com/Jd4PEyIIkN

For what it’s worth, back in the Winter of 2016, I was admitted to Kings with a severe bout of cyclical vomiting syndrome, dangerously dehydrated. No beds, so all they could do was put me in a wheelchair with a dripstand to administer antiemetics & fluids because it was urgent.

Doctors and nurses do whatever they can in crisis periods to care for patients, and it’s not always possible or safe to wait for beds. 2016/17 was a big healthcare crisis winter. A healthcare analyst friend now says this, of their work:pic.twitter.com/tyX0jY47D1

God, I’m so sorry. Incredible work by the staff in circumstances that should never have been allowed to happen.
