Free dental checks is one of those policies that clearly separates people who don’t earn much and know how much people struggle financially, and the well-paid naysayers who use media expenses to go on poverty ssfari tours to tell us what “the poor think”.

The £20 check up fee is the least of my worries when I have to find £500 for a crown or over £100 for a few fillings tbh (and the taxpayer will still be funding it so technically it's not free)

Yeah, but for huge numbers of people that £20 is a big deal, which prevents people from getting seen and being able to take preventative measures. I used to work in the NHS, we served people who would ask for a free prescription for paracetamol because they could not spare 22p
