My grandfather was a headmaster and boys were sent to house to get a pair of boots as they had nothing. Also my mother a teacher would see a poor child without decent shoes and get them a pair. Different times and it shouldn't happen now.

It’s almost going back to my Dad’s childhood-they took it in turns to go to school because they had to share shoes - shocking in 2019

In recession in early 80s Mum used to organise the collection of clothes from other teachers' families which were offered discreetly to mums whom it was known were struggling. Mum's regularly filleted our wardrobes and loved tops would disappear

Yep. And can I mention many teachers even allow snacks after lunch to help augment food for those that has no lunch. Our class had some kids wander through & we'd help feed them.

I have some lovely, gently used, good quality coats that my kids have outgrown- if anyone has links to places in
#Salford or#Manchester that could use them, please DM! -
I also have lots of grey school trousers and some pinafores as well. It’s all in good nick.
