Just realised all the other bookcases have some kind of wooden panel at the back to stop this happening. Oh well. RIP, Ikea idiot son.

I have screwed all mine to the walls using a flat metal bracket with a screw hole, blocks of chipboard to act as spacers between these and the wall and rawl plugs in the holes in the wall.

If you can get to an Ikea, they do an adjustable x-shaped metal brace for £5 that I've used to fix wobbly book cases and desks in the past. It's called Elvarli.
