Agree. Everyone able to stand should be "happy to move" for someone who needs a seat. We shouldn't give people the chance to opt out. Also not much help to the visually impaired who may not be able to see who is wearing the badge or what it says.

I have to believe that any able bodied person who "opted out" of giving up their seat on public transport for an elderly or disabled person would arrive at their destination "acutely aware" of the disgust of fellow passengers. The alternative is too depressing to contemplate.
