Wouldn't it be more disrespectful to "correct" and audience members English. If he said "cannae" he said "cannae". It doesn't need anglicising. Professionally I wouldn't never do that when adding closed captions to alter their dialect.

For one thing it could be entirely against BBC policy to "southernise" Scottish English and it's a policy I'd hugely agree with. To imply that respecting Scottish English as a perfectly valid dialect is, in fact, mocking it, is a reach
