I wonder if the generational dichotomy’s more American: class seems far more prevalent in Britain/Ireland (my family have never owned homes, regardless of generation)

Haven’t looked into home ownership at all tbf so not sure how that would map onto it. No question that home-ownership is a generational thing in UK, though.
@resfoundation has done loads on this. Holding all else equal, far harder to get onto housing ladder today than in past. -
Obv that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of cases where a family might go generations without owning a home, but on the whole it’s absolutely a generational divide in a way that few other things are.
