Cancer patients, nurses working late shifts, and extremely ill people should pay money to private companies to get to hospital, thanks a bunch Greens. https://twitter.com/alexforeurope/status/1190911296906186752 …

heard a story the other day about someone who had to spend £150 on a return taxi journey for their chemo treatment every few weeks because if they took the bus they'd still have to walk for 40 minutes

Total lack of understanding of class/life too often from the Greens. Obviously anyone would like to reduce cars but people relying on it to get to hospital might not be the place to start, lads.

We took my nan to hospital in the car because chemo meant she couldn’t stand, let alone wait for a bus for ages

But it gets screwed, because if the parking is free, it gets filled with commuters. Better to charge (& high) , but offer vouchers to remove the cost if you have been into the hospital for a genuine reason.

Dont get me wrong. I want only essential car use in cities - but I am fed up with young fit men who never have to pick up children and the family food shop telling time poor women on low incomes we can just cycle everywhere.

In Lincolnshire you have to drive to get too hospital for both early and late appointments. I do believe cancer patients get either free or discounted parking in Lincoln.
