If only I could have driven and parked for free when I went for my outpatient physio appointment at the hospital a 20-minute walk away. That would have been radical social justice in action.

I get you and I apologise. My thinking was that the ill/poor old lady is often deployed as the theoretical victim of progressive policies – motoring charges, land value tax etc. I’m obviously feeling guilty now.

Of course, they may be penalised if there was no mitigation or broader policy change… but as a society we should be able to provide people like your gran with decent incomes and get them to hospital regardless of parking rules.
