It sounds dramatic, because it is dramatic. But when patients can’t get pregabalin and have seizures, we’ll be told they’re “dependent”, that too many of us are on these drugs, and going without is actually good for us.

Another article that conflates dependence and addiction - there was one in the Guardian yesterday. And in context of antidepressants it doesn't seem to actually understand what dependence means. Needing drug to manage illness ≠ drug dependence
