i’m on a breastfeeding facebook group and it’s like 50% invaluable advice and support and 50% people calling their breast milk shit like ‘booby juice’

Every time I go on a medical support forum looking for advice, I long for a separate internet where people with the ability to use medical terminology can go, and leave the rest who call seizures “brainy wobbles” or their partners “hub hubs” to their twee feral bullshit.

There’s also a small subculture, separate to people who are clearly ill but not taken seriously or getting anywhere with a diagnosis, who are clearly malingering and the whole mix is all a tinderbox.

Gotta love the Online chronic illness community, honestly my favourite part of life on social media, need them for support and venting dealing with the DWP, want to end some of them for having a twee name for shitting yourself and a husband returned to work(so why aren't you)

Not really sure what your point is, both our points were there isn’t a wide enough breadth of support networks for many things online, and community specific slang terms are often impenetrable to new members, and make it harder to search for help for problems you’re experiencing

Aye it's the same point, sorry, I'm just making it in a cruder and clearly more nonsensical manner as I saw your comments just after I'd been having a gander at a facebook support group for my brain injury times.

Yes, it’s a weird situatuon: we choose all the other online communities we’re part of, but by necessity this throws a lot of very different people together with the natural frustrations that entails at an already stressful time. Hope it’s helpful in some part for you, at least.
