Have epileptic aura so have to stay close to the ground/near soft furnishings. Love my life.

Extremely kind doctor who glued my head eounds back together told me “the second you feel odd, just hit the floor. Don’t risk it.”

*wounds, even. First time I’ve had glue not stitches. Apparently it will just drop off. And it does look like my eyebrow’s covered in superglue.

Can also tell when I’m about to have a seizure because my cat, who refuses to sit on laps, suddenly lies on me, staring intently.

This week epilepsy’s cost me over £300 in new glasses (smashed them to bits along with my face), cabs to/from hospital because the ambulance was a two hour wait, and missed TV/radio appearances, I hate it.

Another odd thing: when I’ve had trips in ambulances, the crew have remarked on how kind I am. Two weeks ago two crew members came to find me at the end of their shift to thank me for cheering them up by joking on gas and air.

It’s an immensely stressful job, and understandably a lot of patients are very stressed, angry, scared, or mentally ill. You can only really joke when you’re chronically ill and know you’ll probably be fine with some treatment.

Spending a lot of time in A&E you see just how many people need social rather than medical care. The police are always escorting patients with mental health problems, and you see the ongoing effects of austerity, but it’s hidden from most of the public.

Epileptic solidarity. Had my first fit in a hotel bath at NUS annual conference of all places. Luckily got fished out by alert friends. Thankfully only had one more since. Hope you find the right meds.

Oof, awful: never take baths for precisely that reason. Good luck - I’ve tried everything, but think I’m in the 1 in 3 drug resistant types.
