This illustrates the big problem with centrism. Treating it as a game is a luxury many can’t afford. It’s natural to be angry at politicians who vote to make children hungry, people homeless, vulnerable people destitute, but you’re treated as “unreasonable” if you’re angry.pic.twitter.com/Ve38nGtMvL

People who’ve never experienced poverty telling those directly affected by cuts they’re unreasonable by mentioning politicians’ records is a horrendous spectacle. Austerity had a huge human cost, people died, and no one has apologised.

I think people are just sick of the polarisation. There's only so far any party can go when its main tactic is telling everyone how terrible everyone else is. I don't think it's working either way.

Labour's main tactic is highlighting reality, reality consistently shows Lib Dems and Tories to be ignorant or deliberately causing many problems in the UK. Meanwhile Labour has the most solid policy proposals and a fully costed manifesto...

More than anything I want to see Tom Friedman spend a week working a minimum wage job in Youngstown, Ohio. The experience would break him entirely.

No. Wrong, just wrong 1 There will always be someone further out on the wings. There has to be a point that is enough 2 Policy has to be based on experience and consensus not hope and wishes. 3 Extreme policies hurt people. They sacrifice individuals, or whole grps for the cause

But that views supposes that a policy agreed by consensus is going to be moderate, and positive.

Liverpool football manager Bill Shankly famously joked "Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that." Politics shouldn't be treated like a game, not when it really is a matter of life or death for some.
