What one thing annoys you, that 99.99% of the public aren’t bothered by? Thanks to working in a bank at 16, people saying “standing order” when they mean “direct debit” still irks me.

Also a standing order is for a specific repeating amount, while a direct debit can be for a variable amount.

The actual difference is that a standing order is money sent from your account, whereas a direct debit is money taken from your account. Plus several other technical and legal differences.
