In Janice Turner's last column she says "This week Jeremy Corbyn tweeted that he was proud of Chris Smith, the first openly gay MP". I can't find that tweet - does anyone know what she's referring to? I couldn't find a mention of it in any of the Pride videos. Thanks in advance!
Where’s the statement? Huw’s just trying to find it, not disputing it.

I wasn't suggesting he was, only commenting on it myself. It was in a tweeted statement - try JC's feed?

He didn't tweet it, it's in a Pink News op-ed. He doesn't call him the first openly gay MP, he says that he was once the only openly gay MP in Parliament. Which is strictly true but does somewhat ignore Colquhoun and what she went through https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/07/05/jeremy-corbyn-horrible-anti-trans-campaign-op-ed/ …
