The EU elections were a protest vote against an opposition party? Ok.
I must have seen hundreds of accounts on here saying, "I normally vote Labour but won't back them if they don't back Remain, I'm voting Lib Dem." (And Green.)
The Labour Party is now wrecking itself. To put it at the door of Tom Watson is patently unfair. It is becoming gradually more unelectable and a time when it should be surging ahead.
Thank you for writing this!
What a load of crap. Forgetful of how popular centrist labour was. Centrist labour voters like me are now lib dem. That's not a protest vote. That's a shift to a party that's right for me. Maybe @tom_watson could win me back. Corbyn certainly wont.
Centrist Labour was popular in 1997 because it was literally the only (was it?) opposition to a dying on its arse Tory party. By 2010, when people worked out it was just another version of the same old, same old, it had lost its popularity in buckets.
Well done Dawn this needed saying.
