My position is I voted remain but I lost. I would like a compromise deal to leave on the softest possible terms, preserving as much as we can of the value of membership while also leaving. There is no party remotely close to this view.

Meaning what? They want to put all "Tory" deals to a referendum. Given that we have a Tory govt that means the deal goes to a vote. Some Labour people now say all deals are now subject to a vote.

What is left for the tories to do to get a deal through, other than call for a public vote or an election? ‘Some labour people’ aren’t quoting labour policy.

But labour does want to end free movement which is a major benefit that we enjoy with our current membership. And position on single market is unclear. So could be a very hard soft Brexit.
