All the workplaces mentioned are high pressure, and target driven, and it’s difficult not to see people taking time off for illness/disability/sick kids as being accused of not “keeping up” in a shortened working week, with pressure intensified.

The argument for shorter working weeks is increased productivity because people are less stressed: demanding just as much work in a truncated week is just bullying while saving fuel bills on Fridays.

They say the same pay - but I can just see bosses looking at absence rates in a shortened working week and pressuring people into presenteeism

I’d have to disagree with this - I worked in an extremely high-pressure data entry job for the NHS, and about 20% of my Grade 2 salary was target dependent. Reducing my hours from 37.5 to 30 not only made me less stressed, but saw my productivity increase despite less hours.
