I've thought about this a lot. To a lesser extent it's true of the benzo/z pill/gaba crisis too. In "troubled areas" you'll see signs declaring a no benzo policy, when actually they're really useful drugs for people who're really suffering.

indeed. Drs prescribe them because their job is to do their best to alleviate a patient's suffering. There are precious few resources (physiotherapy, Pain Management clinics etc) left in the NHS after 10yrs of austerity that can help & Drs are left with little or no alternative.
