Hmm, he is though, isn’t he. And I don’t think James is the ultimate arbiter in who has and who has not been a good Christian.pic.twitter.com/ad4JsqJDm9

What if he’s actually God and we just ignored him

That’s right, who gets to say who is a good Christian or not. Personally when pondering this or other difficult moral questions question I always ask the fairies at the bottom of my Garden.

I'm always kind of torn on this stuff, I haven't made my mind yet. Francis Spufford's 'Unapologetic' is great, but has this part about accepting a kindship with Sarah Palin in Christ - but I just can't comprehend these people as loving the same Jesus that I do.

I don’t think you have to accept a kinship, but accept people who fit the basic definition (baptised and confirmed into the church) *are* Christians, and you can hate them and their behaviour, but it’s not for you to decide if they’re a good or bad Christian, ultimately.

I think you may have missed the reference to this: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/dec/13/you-aint-no-muslim-bruv-man-leytonstone-denounces-extremism … - @mrjamesob is clearly not setting himself up as the arbiter of christianity, but rather pointing out non-christian actions of those who prefess the faith.

If only there was a list somewhere of what Jesus said makes a good Christian. It would be easy to see how JRM measures up then.

‘But he’s imperfect and bad and terrible!’ That is... the point, a big huge theologically critical point to Christianity

Not in terms of belief though. How can you quantify that? I'm baptised but have never been religious. Could a priest swing in and say "well, actually you are a Catholic"?
