Do any male journalists get daily "can you hand over all your editors' details so I can pitch to all the places you write for" messages, or is that pleasure solely reserved for women who dare take up men's slots in the media?

It's the combination of refusing to accept building contacts is work in itself, and the knowledge they don't do it to men, because they view you as taking up space that they deserve and should be afforded.

I always offer to do this for colleagues/friends (and a few have been kind enough to do it for me) as well as people I don’t know but who are working hard yet struggling to get an ‘in’. But there’s also the weird entitlement of Please Give Me All Your Info I Can’t Google.

Yeah, there’s a big difference between helping pals/mentoring, and men being affronted you are writing in a slot they feel more entitled to, and expect you to drop everything for them.

Also sometimes it’s “I *can* Google but I expect you to pitch for me/chase my ignored pitch” and the entitlement is incredible.
