Ok, hypothetical scenario. Let's say in the not so far future there's a vote in NI, a plebiscite about joining the Republic. And let's say they voted Yes. And there's a vote in the Westminster Parliament to ratify, and it's predicted to be split, very narrow.

What then would happen, I suppose they'll be in one heck of a moral pickle. Recognizing the parliament they feel is illegitimate but achieving their ultimate goal? Or let it slip because of unionists?

if a party that campaigned on taking their seats turned around and refused to do so, people would (rightly) lose their shit, but don't see the same would be true of sinn fein taking theirs
