Did he say what he’s accused of saying? What possible context would have made what he was quoted as saying OK?
Must admit I’ve only read Scruton on aesthetics, as set text, 30 years ago, found him very dogmatic, prescriptive on that eminently subjective topic. Age doesn’t seem to have mellowed him.
