Argue with Remainers all you want, but the opposition of a “patriotic” working class and “rootless cosmopolitans” has its origins in Third Reich and Soviet antisemitic propaganda. It has no place in the Labour movement. Lexiters, get ya spokesman to quit talking out his neck.pic.twitter.com/R6zZwCcjUF

Oh, you again. I've already made a fool of you once this week, with your unhinged accusations of racism. Please don't tempt me to do so again.

So you don’t think that “rootless cosmopolitans” has, whether by accident or by design, antisemitic connotations?

Eh? I was arguing with a northern folk singer, for pity sake. And I was referring to an entire class of people in Britain without any reference to race. How you manage to turn that into a charge of anti-Semitism is beyond me. But, then, so are most things you say.

Here are the top results when you Google it. So I'll ask again - do you think that the phrase "rootless cosmopolitans" is absent of any antisemitic connotations whatsoever?pic.twitter.com/JpwZHOOU0H

Weird how multiple people have independently pointed out your use of a well-known antisemitic phrase and googled it for you but you’ve just left it up, eh Paul.

I'm suggest @AyoCaesar & @DAaronovitch aren't often on the same side of many disagreements. Certainly not as many as you have been with the likes of Farage lately...

Dawn, can you honestly tell me: 1) had you ever heard the phrase "rootless cosmopolitan" before today? Or did you just google it? 2) do you have a politics degree or some other qualification in intellectual superiority? 3) define well-known? Eg, what percentage of pop knows it?

I had no idea of it's link to antisemitism & I've been engaged in debates with conspiracy theory nuts for years, resulting in plentiful reading.....the probability of a person putting two English words together that have been used by someone twattish in history is pretty high

I'm very much in disagreement with Paul on many things, particularly his takes on immigration but I don't feel that flying in with the "this is antisemitic" and famously so, because words were used by nasty bastards, is useful at all

People say the same things about Jeremy Corbyn when he talks about the elites. It's only a matter of time before you and your woke mates stitch up the labour leadership to protect your media careers.
