Foodbank visits in Morecambe increased 28% last year, and child poverty is 26.4%. Sneering that these people “must be important” for Corbyn to speak to them rather than march is a terrible look that shows real disdain for local politics and the ravages austerity has on lives.

The leader of the opposition's attendance matters not one jot?
ohhhkay. -
His attendance would have done him wonders. Frankly he seems hell bent on making himself irrelevant at present.

Ludicrous. Aside from the fact that Corbyn could quite easily have gone on the march & then launched the locals campaign tomorrow, no-one even noticed him launching the local election campaign because the only story is 1m+people marching against Brexit. He just didn't want to.
-
And he was right not to. I never saw such a bunch of entitled wallies.

He's supposed to be the leader of the opposition FFS. He should have either been at the march or saying why he didn't support it. Total lack of leadership as usual. Why do you make excuses for him? Also Kate Hoey liked your tweet so well done there

It does. Otherwise, should we be granted another voted, how will people be sure which side Corbyn is on? Blithely refusing to criticise the dear leader is an awful look. He could have launched the local election campaign tomorrow.
-
Maybe people could look at the 120+ appearances campaigning for remain, that he voted for remain and that he's the only politician to have put an amendment for a second vote to parliament? Just a thought
