Wow: NHS removes cervical screening contract from Capita and brings it back in house after 43,220 women don’t receive screening reminders and 4,508 don’t receive results. Outsourcing is a plague.https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/mar/20/nhs-removes-cervical-screening-contract-from-capita …

This explains so much! I had my first (at least 10 years late!) having no reminders, still haven’t had the results even after chasing and it’s been three months..

Last year when I had a biopsy to see if I had melanoma they sent me a letter telling me that they had already made a results appointment for me "within four to six weeks". Seven or eight weeks later I'd heard nothing so I phoned them only to discover nobody had made one.
-
Eventually they made an appointment for me and when I turned up the consultant assumed I'd already been given my results "oh, didn't we tell you? I thought we'd told you. Hm. Must have lost your letter somewhere. Anyway it's all fine". Massively frustrating & also quite scary

Vital cancer tests for women treated by the Minister of Health in such a cavalier fashion.....saving money more important than women’s lives...shocking...

I had treatment for abnormal cells 10 years ago, at which point it took less than 2 weeks for smear results. This year it took over 14 after chasing almost weekly.
