Platforming fascists, and characterising them as harmless but confused people who don’t pose a real threat has been a huge part of their rise. Sure @pennyred can explain this isn’t a volte face.
If Laurie has explained why it was cool for her to pal about with fascists two years ago but isn’t now, please do point me to the explanation, because I’d love to learn why we were all wrong then when we criticised her but are somehow right now.
I don’t think all of the criticism was wrong. I’ve taken it on board. But suggesting I said fascists were harmless or no threat, or that I was *actually friends* with any of them, is simply untrue and always has been.
I genuinely love your work and I share it with people there are screenshots that do appear to show you "palling around" with Milo is there some place you've explained specifically what criticisms you've taken on board? because this "actually friends" response feels slippery
Yes, I’d like to know what criticisms you think were correct. The whole tenor of the pieces (I’d forgotten there were two) minimised the threat they posed. And yes, I’d class the first quote as “palling about”.pic.twitter.com/VVtBFYCDlW
Ah, don’t worry, I see you’ve written a long thread complaining about everyone raising these questions and explaining you did nothing wrong, forget it.
There's a good article here about the benefits of restraint. Think on. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/mar/05/sackcloth-ashes-love-lent-practise-self-reflection …
