Can she change her mind? I mean, it's not like many of us have DIRECT experience of the evolution of fascists - and while there were signs that were clear to many - is it that unforgivable to have hoped that this time history would merely rhyme?
But she, Laurie Penny, "pennyred", difdid have DIRECT experience with fascist, ie, her longstanding pal, the fascist Milo. It isn't unforgivable. What IS unforgivable, is the dishonesty, where she tries to paint herself as a victim, of people who very rightly condemned her.
I don’t think all of the criticism was wrong. I’ve taken it on board. But suggesting I said fascists were harmless or no threat, or that I was *actually friends* with any of them, is simply untrue and always has been.
I genuinely love your work and I share it with people there are screenshots that do appear to show you "palling around" with Milo is there some place you've explained specifically what criticisms you've taken on board? because this "actually friends" response feels slippery
Clever of you to have found the only person of the age to do a “dapper facist” profile. You must feel super smug. She’ll probably draw the curtains and let you have all the scoops now. Well done!
I thought the @PennyRed Milo piece was a tremendous bit of insider take-down in the Hunter Thompson tradition. I'm very sad that you seem to think your standard of ideological purity privileges you to be hurtful to a wonderful voice of the progressive movement.
I appreciate the support, friend, and am glad you liked the piece, but don’t have a go at Dawn, she’s a nuanced thinker and does great work.
These are bad tweets Dawn. You were wrong then and you're wrong again now. This thoughtless, indiscriminate lashing out is cringeworthy and destructive.
You are a fascist sympathising opportunist. You are defending a fascist curious opportunist, Laurie Penny, who provided a platform for her fascist pal, Milo.
But the original article was a withering exposé of the ugliness of the new right, at a time when no one was taking these knuckleheads seriously.
