I think there were too many kids in my family for any food to last long enough to grow mouldy
sometimes you get butter in it and it goes off / sometimes you grow up in the countryside and have too much jam
I AM NOT CONDONING THIS BEHAVIOUR
Is it homemade jam that has fewer preservatives, so more likely to go mouldy? I think homemade stuff can go mouldy quite quickly if you don't keep it in the fridge.
I think we have our answer
I've let jam go mouldy because I've bought it at, like, some nice festival or something and then remembered I just don't like it? I guess for me a way to avoid food waste would be to... remember which things I like
I keep my jam and marmalade, once opened in the refrigerator. Using a second knife to avoid margarine/butter contaminating it, which I could leave jars for about a month (because Nutella and peanut butter always wins)... But the prime minister eating mould, that's just nasty.
