Seen a lot of this in response to very thoughtful critiques of Liam Neeson/how racism operates. The “but don’t you think?” school of argument which starts in bad faith, and immediately expects the writer will expend a huge amount of energy entertaining your argument.

Most people don’t have the luxury and inclination to treat lived experience as a philosophical thought experiment, and it’s completely psychologically exhausting dealing with day to day. Some people can’t ever move on from the idea that life should be a school debating club.

Sometimes people can entertain that debate, but no one owes it to you, and acting affronted that a lot of people are simply too tired to discuss hypothetical situations where bigotry might be ok is such a bizarrely increasing hallmark of social media.

There are better ways of learning what your political enemies think than constantly arguing with them. You can read right wing newspapers, deciding not to constantly engage in rows online doesn’t constitute being stuck in an echo chamber.
