My GP receptionist has forced me to see a doctor before giving me a repeat prescription for my epilepsy meds because “You had a prescription on 2nd Jan for 60 tablets” even though I take two a day.

This drives me nuts too. Not only that but I have ongoing problems with my eyes for about the last 5 years and if I want to go see an ophthalmologist (necessary sometimes bc doc can’t prescribe what I need) I have to still go to GP first for referral. Waste of time and money.

... And to get to see my GP I almost have to take a full morning off work because I can either book a MONTH in advance or go at 8am, get an appt (for ~10am usually) then hang around for it.

Convinced there’s financial incentive here especially if like me you are over 50. I have to be reviewed for medication that my GP has already said I shouldn’t ever come off plus a series of tests each year that mean more time off for outpatients to achieve precisely nothing
