I was in no fit state to tell paramedics my medical history last week, and one of my medical conditions is so rare most GPs haven’t heard of it, so I can scarcely be expected to tell my GPs clinical findings from hospital tests despite extensive googling.

Yeah, hence “fingers crossed”. The article states the project was beset by problems when it began in 2002, and the coalition scrapped plans in 2011 before beginning again.

I still take paper copies of prevuous letters to any appointment to save the drs embarrassment when certain files cant be accessed. A worrying side effect of proper IT integration however would be to enable privatisation lowering costs for would be private operators.
